“SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER”

NATIONAL  AFRAM CONFERENCE  2001

From our founding over six (6) years ago, AFRAM has continued to stress the importance of Leadership Development, Networking, and Full Participation in SEIU Structures and Programs.

The recent presidential election along with other social, political, and economic contradictions, are causing African Americans to ask this basic question: "Are we being undervalued, underestimated and marginalized."

Whether the issues are "Racial Profiling, Disparate Prison Sentencing, Environmental Racism, Voter Intimidation, Political Nullification, Economic Deprivation, or just old school Racial Discrimination", the end game is the same.

Our 5th National Conference will address these and other issues of importance to working families. African American trade unionist must play a vital role in shaping the national discourse on issues affecting our communities.

Our activism must not only peak over the horizon, we must also continue to educate our Co-workers, Local Unions, State Councils, Regional Conferences, Industry Divisions and the International Executive Board, on the importance and value of Diversity and Leadership Development .

Join us in Newark, NJ for another informative gathering of SEIU members of African Descent.
