Dear
Members and Supporters:
Enclosed for your review
and records is the final report from our Leadership Summit held
April 17-18, in Chicago, Illinois. Summit attendees grappled
with tough but important issues as we reviewed our past,
analyzed our present and developed action plans for our future.
We are collectively grateful to those who attended and
financially supported the Summit.
The
Summit results are just the beginning.
Your ideas and suggestions are welcomed as
we prepare a National Action Plan. Neither
“Action Plans” nor “Summits” can
succeed without your commitment and
participation. There never has been, nor
can there ever be, a substitute for the
valuable contributions made by dedicated
individuals like you.
AFRAM
is a dynamic and evolving organization.
Networking, Leadership Development,
Organizing, Politics, and Social Justice
are cornerstones for our vitality and
continual growth. We must develop programs
and activities which promote and encourage
rank and file participation in SEIU
programs and initiatives, while
maintaining our culture, heritage and
right to choose our leaders.
As
always, you can contact me directly via
the e-mail link below. I look
forward to hearing from you.
Marchel Smiley
National President, National
African
American Caucus
