Over two hundred fifty (250) attendees representing twenty (20) SEIU Locals participated in the 10th year National AFRAM Celebration held in  Oakland, California,  November 10 – 12, 2006.

On Saturday, November 12, a town hall meeting and panel discussion took place focusing on the relationship between the Latino immigrant population and the African American population.

The goal of the discussion was to encourage members to voice their opinions, comments and suggestions regarding Black and Brown relations.  Responses were organized into the following categories:  Creating stronger bonds between workers of all ethnicities, Organizing workers,  Racism/Discrimination
, Health care costs, and Human Rights.  The responses will be shared with the SEIU Community Strength Committee for feedback in the future.
