Over two hundred fifty (250) attendees representing twenty (20) SEIU Locals participated in the 10^th year National AFRAM Celebration held in  Oakland, California,  November 10 – 12, 2006.

On Saturday, November 12, a town hall meeting and panel discussion took place focusing on the relationship between the Latino immigrant population and the African American population.  

Panelists facilitating the discussion were:

The goal of the discussion was to encourage members to voice their opinions, comments and suggestions regarding Black and Brown relations.  Responses were organized into the following categories:  Creating stronger bonds between workers of all ethnicities, Organizing workers,  Racism/Discrimination, Health care costs, and Human Rights.  The responses will be shared with the SEIU Community Strength Committee for feedback in the future.
